Badger surveys
Badgers and their setts are protected by law. If there are signs of badgers on or near your site, the council will want a survey before it decides your application.
What's included
- A search for setts, paths, latrines and other signs of badgers
- How active each sett is, and how close you can safely work
- A report with advice on protecting badgers during the work
When to book
Badger surveys can be done for most of the year. They're easiest in spring and autumn, when vegetation is low and badgers are active.
If badgers are present
Work near an active sett may need a Natural England licence, and sett closures can only take place from July to November. We'll advise on the licence and plan the work around it.
